Material face assignments in Maya

Hi,
We've been trying to use some of the kits (for example, the Manhattan kit) for production. I have the Maya Arnold 4k texture version of it.
The materials are assigned on faces, rather than geometry shape nodes, which renders them unusable in a studio pipeline (most VFX studios require material assignments at the geometry / object level, rather than faces, for them to work in a pipeline). Is there a way to bypass this problem that doesn't require us reworking the entire kit, and do you have any plans to address this issue in the future?
This is unfortunately a deal breaker for us as it would require separating geometry such as windows manually (currently merged all into one piece with the walls, for example), then setting up material assignments again in potentially thousands of objects.
