I wanted to add this request to C4D/Octane category even though I've seen it in other DCC requests and Kit requests. However, this is not specific for either kits or DCCs but an overall savings for both users and KitBash3D! There is not need to download/wait for a Metallic Image that is absolute Black (not to mention single channel opacity maps/emission maps etc) to be imported when anyone that has technical knowledge of scene optimization then has to go remove the offending image to simply input RGB spectrum/Gaussian Spectrum/single channel values and save the kb's. C4D stores textures in RAM for LiveViewer Render and obviously the VRAM savings. Example: a 4k absolute black png image is 25.5kb and 28kb "on disk" so not only does it require user to remove in the software then also remove from disk, but if you do then you cannot simply import again b/c now Cargo thinks you are missing tex and will require you to download again in order to import.
This feature saves Hard Disk space for the user as well as storage space for KB3D/improved download/import times as well. If it's not feasible for other DCCs then perhaps have a setting/option to "skip" download/import of absolute value textures that would be amazing and further assist with workflow efficiencies. Us Octane users already have to set our plugin to Native then go back and set to Octane in order to get PBR materials to load so help us out! Thanks in advance!
